Wine Tasting

After Charlie, Gale, Nick and I left Bonnieux we drove west back toward Lourmarin to check out dinner dining opportunities. We found a few restaurants that looked great and decided we'd return later for dinner.
We set off to do our wine tasting at a nearby winery, Val Joanis, that had been recommended to us. Not only were we looking forward to the wine but the reputed gardens as well. We weren't let down by either. The wines were excellent but the gardens were outstanding.

We loved their use of espalied fruits and vegetables....

eggplant, on the left, and apples, on the right

Aren't these miniatiure, purple artichokes were fabulous?

Of course no French garden would be complete without a few of these fellows...
